Here at Monticello High School, we offer the AVID elective class to students in grades 9th through 12th. We encourage all students to remain in the program for the entire four years. Throughout the four year program, student have the experience of learning about themselves, in an in-depth way, as individuals, in order to determine the appropriate paths that their lives may take.
Students have access to a wide range of developmental tools to aid in their growth academically and personally. We rely heavily on the students abilities to collaborate with their peers to problem solve and better prepare for academic challenges.
Program participants are expected to be leaders in their respective classrooms as well as leaders on campus. AVID students are encouraged to pursue leadership roles in their respective Clubs, Honor Societies, Athletic Teams, and Student Government.
As a program we strive to provide students with the necessary tools to be successful in the classroom and beyond as well as introduce students to opportunities and enrichment activities that would typically not be available to them outside the resources of the AVID program.
